When Puratos began operating in India in 2008, we needed strong in‑house bakery expertise to help our clients improve their bread, patisserie and chocolate products. Skilled technical advisors were scarce, and our customers faced the same challenge.
We also saw many young people with limited prospects, whose families could not afford education. This inspired us to link both needs: developing skilled bakers, pastry chefs and chocolatiers while creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
This led to the creation of the Bakery School Foundation, providing quality education and empowering communities with long‑term, meaningful impact.
Our courses go beyond basic education, covering math, language, computer and finance, alongside practical bakery, patisserie and chocolate training. Students also complete paid internships that give them real‑world experience.
Creating Opportunities for Graduates
Our commitment continues after graduation. We help students build their careers by offering merit‑based employment opportunities and supporting them in finding meaningful work within our subsidiaries or with our customers.
Our Ambition for the Future
By 2030, we aim to open 20 Bakery Schools and welcome 1,000 students each year.
